Coming Up Beyond the Air
My happy place is looking at the curvature of the earth. Although it is spacey - pun intended - it is my impractical gift with practical benefits for all. I invite you to join me in getting out of our narrow silos and seeing the future horizon of human society, technology, and religion.
Relationships Have Consequences
One of my strengths is to see how things are related from a high vantage point. In our hyper specialized world, we live compartmentalized lives. We are buffeted by bewildering and sometimes frightening changes. I have always loved social-cultural anthropology. In my view, it is the study of human social dynamics, culture, technology, and religion or belief systems - sacred and secular - that we use to create the future. The view is peaceful and compelling. It is also critical to creating more human futures for peace with our planet as well as on it.
Seeing Things as They Are and Shaping the Future
I am inviting you to help me create a community of peaceful, confident, and hopeful agents of change. Throughout the course of my life from my blue collar Mexican American origins to my studies in classical literature, biology, and philosophy and my professional life as an applied anthropologist, healthcare management consultant, educator, social activist, and as an ordained Catholic deacon, I know firsthand that unblinking realism produces only anguish without a deeper faith based on the experience that hopes and dreams do come to fulfillment. More than gossamer sails, we do have specific rational tools to see and measure systems in human and planetary ecology. We as humans can and do make a difference for the better if we understand the social and environmental forces.
Coming Attractions
Please expect a broad range of posts. They will range from the battle of the Lakota Sioux Water Protectors with big oil, the battle for Mexico, the border and the stories of its survivors. We will also go to Cydonia and see the Face on Mars. we will review the latest advances in technology and AI, wearable medical devices, and disorganized religion’s search for its soul. I look forward to discussing these idea-scapes with you, so don’t be shy but please be civil.
Initially, I will publish new posts every week on Fridays.
Looking forward to Fridays! congrats on launching this "space"; a much needed repreieve to all the noise that has now become part of our reality. Blessings.
